What materials can I use?

All our readily available materials are displayed in our material shop.

Here is a list of our most commonly known laser friendly materials:

    Are there any materials I can't use or cut?

    There are many materials which are unsuitable for the laser. If processed, these materials create dangerous fumes and dust. Examples of these materials include:

  • Leather and artificial leather (only types containing chromium (VI))
  • Carbon fibers (Carbon)
  • Polyvinyl chloride (PVC)
  • Polyvinyl butyrale (PVB)
  • Polytetrafluoroethylenes (PTFE /Teflon)
  • Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS)
  • High-density polyethylene (HDPE)
  • PolyStyrene & PolyPropylene Foam
  • Polycarbonate / Lexan
  • Beryllium oxide
  • Any material that contains halogens (fluorine, chlorine, bromine, iodine and astatine), epoxy or phenolic resins

    We are not able to cut metal with our machine. However, we can engrave some metals. Please contact us if you wish to do this.


    What size can you cut?

    We can laser cut and engrave up to 900mm x 600mm.

    We have varying sheet sizes depending on the material type and your needs, please check your specific material in our material shop for more details.

    However, if you have a request for something bigger, we can try to accommodate this. Please contact us before submitting your service submission form.

    This would need to be specified in additional information when submitting your order. Price and lead times will vary for these requests.


    What is the thickest material you can cut?

    Whilst our ability to cut different thicknesses varies depending on material type. As an example, we can cut thicknesses up to:

  • 9mm Birch Plywood
  • 12mm Poplar Plywood
  • 10mm Acrylic
  • CNC :

  • 18mm Birch Plywood
  • 18mm Poplar Plywood
  • 20mm Acrylic

  • Can I use my own material?

    Unfortunately, we do not allow this as all our materials are tested to make sure that they are laser safe.

    However, if you have a specific material that we do not offer in the material shop or that you would like to use. This can be requested by selecting "Other" and describing the material when submitting your Service Order and we will try our best to accommodate your request.

    Please note. Materials may require to be tested to ensure they are laser safe.


    How long will my order take?

    We aim to process all orders within 48 hours from confirmation. However, it may take us slightly longer during periods of increased demand.

    Once we have recieved payment for your order, you will recieve an email to let you know your order is ready to collect or has been shipped.


    Can I collect my order?

    Yes, you can by using out Cut + Collect Service!

    Once your order is ready, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to book a collection slot.

    Please note. Collection is only avaliable for Cut + Collect and Cut to Order.


    How do I collect my order?

    Once you have received an email confirmation that your Cut + Collect order is ready to collect. Within this email, there will be a link to book a collection slot for your order.

    After booking your slot, you can collect your order at your selected time and date from our studio:

    Please note. Collections for Cut + Collect orders can only be made after booking a slot to collect. This time can be rescheduled if you are unable to make it the time you have booked.


    Can you deliver my order to me?

    Yes, we can arrange delivery for your order via our Cut + Ship Service!

    Once you have received a payment link for your order, you can choose a delivery option that suits you at checkout. The shipping charge will be added to your order.

    When your order has shipped, you will receive an email to let you know and tracking is provided with all our delivery options.

    Please note. Shipping options are only avaliable for Cut + Ship and Cut to Order.


    What are my delivery options?

    For our Cut + Ship Service, all delivery options are calculated by the total weight of the order and are available to choose from at checkout when paying for your order:

      • Available for Local Central Glasgow Postcodes Only (G1, G2, G3, G4, G5, G11, G12, G31, G40, G41, G42, G51) | (within 1 Working Day) from £7.00
    • Standard Delivery
      • Hermes | Standard (2-4 Working Days) from £2.50
      • DPD | Standard (2-3 Working Days) from £6.50
    • Express Delivery
      • Hermes | Express (1-2 Working Days) from £4.95
      • DPD | Express (within 1 Working Day) from £9.50
      • DPD | Express By 12pm (within 1 Working Day) from £16.00
      • DPD | Express By 10.30am (within 1 Working Day) from £19.50

    Please note. Delivery times are additional to processing times and vary for each order.


    What file type should I use?

    File types that we accept are: .pdf, .ai, .dxf & .svg

    As we use lightburn laser software for our laser, we also accept lightburn specific files such as .lbrn and .lbrn2.

    Please see our preparing files pages for more information.

    We do also accept .dwg. However, these will need to be exported to a .pdf file type to be ready to uploaded to the laser. We can do this for you at an additonal service charge.

    Please note. This service will be costed at £2.50/per file.


    Can you create and prepare my files?

    If you do not have software or would like us to design the files for you, we would be more than happy to hear what you would like to make!

    You can use our Cut to Order Service which lets you provide us with as much information as possible about what you are looking to create.

    Please note. This service will be costed at £40/per hour charged in 15 min increments (£20 minimum charge). See Pricing.


    I want something custom made, can you make it for me?

    Yes, you can use our Cut to Order Service which lets you provide us with as much information as possible about what you are looking to create.

    Can I use your machine?

    Not at the moment. However, we would love for you to be able to use our machines so we are working on this and do have plans for this in the future!

    How can I pay?

    At the moment, we only accept payments online through our online shop via Stripe and Paypal.

    We also accept payment via Bank Transfer (BACS). If you would prefer this, you can request it in the additional information section of our service submission form.

    Please note. We do not accept cash at this time.


    Do you do student discount?

    Yes! We give students 25% off our standard rates for Cut + Collect and Cut + Ship. We will require a valid student ID on collection or the email provided in your service order to be a valid student email.

    Please note. this does not apply to Cut to Order Service, shipping, material, or products.

    What is your Returns Policy?

    You can return any unwanted item(s) (excluding custom, personalised or made to order, this includes laser cutting time or materials) for refund or exchange within 14 days of delivery or collection.

    However, if you are not satifisfied or have an issue with your order, you can contact us and let us know. We are always happy to help!
